HIC PROPE REQUIESCIT JOANA UXOR THOMAE SOUTHCOTT DE KILMINGTON GEN: FILIA NATU MAXIMA GUILELMI ET ANNAE COLLYNS DE COLLWELL ARMIG: OBIIT 14 DIE DECEMBRIS ANNO DOMINI 1696

Near here lies Joana the wife of Thomas Southcott of Kilmington, gentleman: daughter of William and Anne Collins of Colwell, armiger. Died 14 December 1696

Reader within the silent tombe,
Great Nature's dark retiring roome
A pious female saint doth rest
By heaven with shining virtues drest
Soe good & wife that her bright name
Should live in the records of fame
Religious, just and most sincere
To which the world such strangers are
