The Lodge

GV II

House. Late C18. Stuccoed. Plain tile mansard roof. 3 storeys
and attic, 2 bays. 6-panelled door on right, upper 2 panels
glazed. 16-pane sash on left with shutters. Moulded band over.
First floor has tripartite bowed oriel on left having central
12-pane sash and flanking 8-pane sashes. Frieze and cornice
over and panelled apron below. First and second floor sashes,
16 panes. Moulded cornice at eaves. 2 dormers with 8-pane
sashes. On left return is a plaque inscribed:- "In this house
was born on the 17th April 1833 Vicat Cole, the famous
landscape painter", the son of George Cole.
