Farmhouse. Late C18 with C19 rear extension, front bay windows and entrance
porch. Squared chalk with brick dressings, bay windows and porch,
limewashed. Rendered stacks. Concrete pantile roof. Approximately square
on plan: 2-room central entrance south front with original wing to rear left
and later adjoining wing in angle. 2 storeys, 3 bays; symmetrical. High
brick plinth, quoins and surrounds to openings. Projecting flat-roofed
enclosed porch has round-headed entrance with two-fold half-glazed panelled
doors, moulded impost band, hoodmould and painted moulded ashlar cornice.
Canted bays to either side have recessed plate glass sashes (those to front
with margin lights) under rubbed brick flat arches, stepped eaves and hipped
roofs. Slightly recessed first floor sashes, 12-pane to centre, 16-pane to
sides, in wooden architraves beneath segmental header arches. Plain wooden
eaves board. Stone-coped gables with shaped kneelers. Corniced end stacks.
Left return forms secondary front: slightly recessed 4-bay wing on left has
plain board door to left end, part-glazed door to right in C19-C20 doorcase
with fluted pilasters, plain entablature and hood; 16-pane and unequal 15-
pane ground floor sashes under segmental arches; 12-pane, 16-pane and C20
casements in original openings to first floor. Stone-coped gable and axial
stack. Interior contains open well closed-string staircase with moulded
handrail and column-on-vase balusters with square knops; basket-arched
alcove to ground floor left with panelled pilasters and archivolt; 4-
fielded-and-beaded-panel doors in architraves,panelled window shutters and
window reveals.
