4/3 Farmhouse at Knoll Farm

GV II

Farmhouse. Mid C17, enlarged at E end in early C19. Timber frame
plastered with pargetting and smooth margins to windows. Ground
floor rebuilt in plastered brick with dripboard over. Steep old
red tile roof continued in catslide to rear. A 2 storeys, 3-unit
central-chimney, lobby-entry plan house facing S with gabled rear
stair turret and external C19 gable parlour chimney at W end. 3
windows front with 3-light flush casements to upper floor and
flush box sash windows with 10/10 panes to ground floor. Half-
glazed boarded door. Lean-to E extension up to eaves level.
Interior has ogee stop to chamfered axial beam in parlour, face
halved bladed scarf in rear wallplate, straight braces in walls
and curved braces to tie-beams. (RCHM Typescript).
