Farmhouse, now a house. Late medieval open hall house; floored
and chimney inserted in late C16; brick front and slate roof said
to be of 1789 (RCHM Typescript). Timber frame plastered with red
brick casing to S front and front half of W end. Steep pitched
hipped roof now slated. 2 storeys E crosswing and former open
hall of unusual proportions, heightened to 2 storeys throughout
in C16 or later. Hall chimney rebuilt in C18 and external E
gable chimney added c1789 to heat parlour E of hall. 3 windows
brick S front with pilasters, floor band and moulded parapet
cornice. Recessed sash windows with 2/2 panes under flat gauged
arches with louvred shutters. 6-panel moulded door to left of
centre has eliptical blind fanlight and a C19 round-headed porch.
External gable chimneys to E and W. Interior has framing of N
wall exposed on stair, cambered tie-beam and chamfered arched
braces in E wing, and moulded wooden jambs and cambered lintel of
hall fireplace probably surviving from an earlier timber framed
chimney (RCHM Typescript).
