Workshop, now in domestic use. C18/Cl9. Long 2 storeys
weatherboarded building with tarred brick plinth and low pitched
slate roof continuing No 18. A passage through the N end gives
access to the rear of No 22 and is closed by a decorative wrought
iron gate with arched head. A blocked carriageway near the
middle gave access to the garden of No 16. 2 pairs of 2-light
wooden casement windows to the 1st floor. This range of
buildings provided working space for the varied uses of No 16 viz
smithy, coachmaker, builder and an inn and is an essential part
of the history of that house. It provides an essential visual
element in the middle of the Conservation Area linking Nos 22
and 18. Included for group value.
