Small house. C15 or early C16, E bay early C17. Timber frame on
tarred brick sill, roughcast with panelled pargetting. Steep
half-hipped thatch roof carried down over weatherboarded lean-to
at E end. A one and a half storeys, 3-bay former small open hall
house with storeyed bay at W end and inserted gable chimney at E.
Deeper single-storey C17 one-bay E extension still open to roof.
Later weatherboarded lean-to on E. Faces N with lobby entrance
by chimney and a single 3-light lattice window. Cast-iron 3-
light lattice to E end. Interior shows close-studding, jowled
posts in both C15 and Cl7 parts. Collar-rafter roof with purlins
added in W end. Deep arched braces to cambered tie beam at
middle of hall. Old axial floor joists in W bay. Straight
tension bracing in Cl7 E bay. Weatherboarding originally
external at W now within lean-to. Notable for the unusual
survival of this small late medieval house.
