House, now 2 houses. C16 N crosswing and open-hall range of a T-
plan late medieval house, taller S part rebuilt with hall roof,
in mid C19. N extension C20. Timber frame plastered, decorated
with raised bands of painted slate, with old red tile roofs. A
2-storeys T-plan house facing E, with large C17 central chimney
in upper (N) bay of hall, stair behind it to N (probably
replacing an earlier one) and N-side external chimney to W bay of
crosswing of C18 brickwork probably replacing an older stack. S
external gable chimney serves brick-built C19 plastered S
wing replacing old service end. Irregular E front with
projecting gabled N wing, gable to hall and higher S wing with
door into a cross-passage with stair. Conjoined diagonal shafts
of central chimney serve hall and the chamber over. Exposed
timber in long cross-wing with jowled posts and edge-halved scarf
joint in wallplate with bridled butts. (RCHM Typescript:
