Block of 2 houses. '1861' 'IH' (quatrefoil datestones gables)
for John Hodgson, lord of the manor. Picturesque block of 2 red
brick, Gothic, estate houses, typical of the works of the Gilston
Park Estate. Facing S and designed to appear as medieval H-plan
house with low eaves and dormer windows in centre and 2 storeys
gabled cross wings to left and right. Steep blue slate roofs
with 2 gabled dormers to centre and tall 3-flue, red brick
central chimneys over each cross wing. Cast iron lattice casement
windows with stone sills and flat gauged brick arches, 2-light on
1st floor and 3-light on Ground floor. 4-panel moulded doors on
ends. A picturesque pair of red brick Gothic, C19, estate
houses, little changed. Part of picturesque group in centre of
village.
