Large house, now 3 properties. Early C18 front to a probably older
building, matching 5 windows long N extension and 2 windows long S
extension probably C18, early C19 taller rear wing at right angles, C19
flint wing at NW linked to front range in C20. Probably timber frame
central and north parts possibly brick fronted under allover roughcast
with smooth stucco dressings. Steep old red tile roof. Rear extensions
slated. A long 2-storeys block with complex building history facing E
and stepping down the slope from N to S in 3 stages each with differing
floor levels. Taller rear wing has attic gable window looking out above
roof of front range. E front has wooden eaves cornice, plat-band to
middle and RH part, stucco plinth, and door into left hand end of middle
part. 2:4:5 windows to 1st floor (2 in RH part being false). Recessed
sash windows with 6/6 panes, progressively taller in each part of the
front from N to S. The ground floor windows have stucco flat arches with
7 voussoirs, the keystone and second and sixth voussoirs projecting. 3
stone steps to divided door with 4 fielded panels, triangular fanlight,
narrow sidelights, and doorcase with half-fluted pilasters supporting an
entablature and triangular open pediment.
