Lodge to Westbrook Hay, now a private house. '1851' on plaque on S gable.
For the Ryder family. Flint and puddingstone uncoursed with red brick
dressings and red tile roof with scalloped tile bands. Picturesque 1½
storeys double lodge, formerly the Upper Lodge, for the gatekeeper with
the gamekeeper's house in rear part. Recessed cross windows with ovolo
moulded wood mullions and lattice leaded casements. Decorative pierced
and cusped bargeboards. Door details very like G.G. Scott's church at
Flaunden (1838). Elaborate gabled timber porch on E facing the drive
with large carved coat of arms in gable and Jacobethan detailing to
4-centred arched doorway. Gabled dormers rise through eaves.
