Farmhouse and attached farm buildings. Open hall house of later C15, C16
inserted floor and former timber framed chimney, C18 renovation with
brick chimney and part casing to house. C17 or earlier E range of
farmbuildings, C18 W range. Timber frames on brick sills, house red
brick cased but W part of front has exposed framing. Dark weatherboarded
entrance range at E end of house and similar E range of buildings. Lower
red brick stable to W end of house linking to weatherboarded barn. Steep
old red tile roofs to house and E range, slate roofs to W range with
hipped barn roof. A long 1½ storeys, 4 windows house facing N with
entrance passage to rear courtyard next E gable. 3 4-light small paned
casements to ground floor with gauged segmental arches, 3 gabled
dormers, 2 to LH at eaves, one cutting through eaves due to differing
floor level. 3 internal chimneys. Entrance from courtyard. Formerly an
open hall of 2 bays with storeyed bay at each end. Some soot blackening
in clasped-purlin roof. No evidence of stair in W end (parlour)
indicating an outside stair formerly giving access to upper floor at
this end. Tile parlour has an axial floor beam over and large flat
joists. E service bay had axial joists originally. C16 floor inserted in
hall and wooden chimney backing onto cross-passage with beam offset from
centre to allow for stack. Chimney to 2 storeys part would have been
external at W end. C18 brick chimney replacing older chimney. E range of
farm buildings has a gabled porch on E side serving the barn. L-shaped
stable at W links to large barn with hipped porch on E side facing
