SO 97 SW DODFORD WITH GRAFTON CP PRIORY ROAD (east side)

9/97 Barn about 30 yards north
of Dodford Priory

Barn. Early C19 with late C20 alterations. Brick on sandstone base with
plain tiled roof. Five bays aligned east/west; central wagon bay with gabled
midstreys to north and south having opposed cart entries. Diaper ventilation
patterns, header ventilation course at eaves level and dentilled eaves cornice.
Blind circular openings in apex of midstreys surrounded by three pigeonholes
with alighting ledges. Three windows in north elevation. Interior: roof has
intermediate collar and tie-beam trusses with two struts and two tiers of
trenched purlins. Lean-to addition at east end. The drive to Dodford Priory
(qv) now passes through the threshing floor and the barn faces its main front
elevation. Included for group value.
