3/75 Netherton Farmhouse

GV II

Farmhouse. Probably C16 and C17 with late C20 restorations. Deep sand-
stone rubble plinth, timber-frame with plaster infill and pargetting,
tiled roof and side stack to right cross-wing. E-plan. Cellar and two
storeys. North elevation has 2:1 windows, mid- to late C20 casements of
three lights except that to ground floor of cross-wing which has four
lights; in plinth of cross-wing is a pair of 2-light mullioned windows,
one either side of C17 ledged door. Frame has four panels from sill
to wall-plate in main range and five panels in right cross-wing which
also has parallel intersecting angle struts to its gable top. Attached
to left is a lower single-storey part with angle struts to wall-plate and
a restored diamond-mullioned oak window. Rear elevation, to south, has
central projecting C17 porch with pargetting on side walls and to the right,
part of a cruck blade (RCHM Vol I, p 209).
