Six almshouses, now unoccupied. 1887. By P P Pugin for Mrs de la Barre
Bodenham of Rotherwas. Brick with sandstone dressings. Pantile roof with
brick and stone ridge stacks. Rectangular plan aligned roughly east/west.
Eclectic style. Two storeys with attic. South elevation has three windows,
2-light mullions, concealed behind first floor verandah supported on posts
with angle struts. Ledged door to left of centre and another to extreme
right of verandah. Three raking-top dormers each with two cinquefoil headed
lights. Ground floor has two projections, one to left-hand side, the other
to right of centre, both supporting the verandah. Each has three narrow
chamfered lights with four-centred heads and carries a pair of stepped corbels.
Two entries, one to centre, the other to right-hand side. Recessed and
attached to left is a single-storey wing with a 3-light bay window and to
its left a door. The roof is hipped. In a corresponding position to the right
of the main block is a two-storey wing with steps rising to the right end of
the verandah. Interior inaccessible at time of resurvey (July 1986). (BoE,
