Houses, late C16, C17 and C18. 2 storey, timber framed and plastered with
hipped peg tile roof at front with parallel range at rear and 2 gabled rear
wings. Front has 3 double hung sashes with small panes and moulded surrounds
on first floor. Ground floor has 8 Doric pilasters supporting entablature and
cornice, framing 3 double hung sashes with small panes and 2 simple, pilastered
door surrounds. Flank elevation to Mill Lane, has 2 cast iron casements with
leaded lights, 2 timber casements and simple, hooded door surrounds, up flight
of steps with contemporary iron handrail. Interior reveals remains of late
C16 crosswing at S end with jowled posts, back wall inglenook fireplace with
moulded mantel beam and late C18 panelled room with similarly disguised panelled
door to staircase. Roof rebuilt and remnants of later C17 framing in No. 6
and cottage to Mill Land frontage.
