GV II

House, end one of row. C16. Rendered cob walls. Asbestos slate roof, formerly
thatched, with brick chimney over gable end left; stone axial stack with weathering
and brick upper stage; stone lateral stack to rear with brick shaft and gable end
right. Box Tree Cottage adjacent at lower level. 3-room and through passage plan,
now 2 rooms. Ground slopes down to right. 2 storeys. 4-window north-east front.
Doorway off centre to right, window to left and 2 windows at lower level right.
Window opening over door is C20 insertion. All windows and door are C20 casements.
Window to left of door has old doorframe inside.
Interior once had jointed cruck roof structure. Muntin and plank oak screen
survives to lower inside of passage. Fireplace of upper room ie hall backs onto
other side. Hearth is splayed with bread oven to right. 2 chamfered oak cross
beams in hall and one in lower room which has fireplace with further bread oven.
C20 oak lintel.
