House with shop. Late C16, front range added late C17, brick cased C18,
extended and altered C19. Timber frame with red brick casing, plastered and
colourwashed. Steeply pitched plaintiled and pantiled roofs. 3 or 4 bay core
with original gable end to road subsumed in broad 3 cell lobby entry front
range with a C19 bay added to left. 2 storeys and attic, 1 storey and attic
early bays to rear. Ground floor: a part glazed and part raised 6 panelled
architraved door with a cambered brick head as lobby entrance to left of
centre; flanking 3-light glazing bar casements, architraved with cambered
heads. Offset plinth, plat band stopped for shop to right with a half glazed
door, traceried fanlight, flanking projecting canted bay shop windows, fascia
board. First floor three 3-light architraved glazing bar casements, blocked
windows over entrance and in right gable, originally triple gabled front,
centre gable removed. Axial ridge stack to left of centre between hall and
parlour, cap rebuilt. Attached to left is C19 bay with shallower roof, flint
and brick lean-to projecting to front. Right gable end plat band, blocked
windows. Extending to rear behind hall is early core with steeper pitch to
roof, lower eaves. Lean-to outshuts on both returns with C20 casements,
dormers, slate roof to left. Rear gable end external stack with pantiled
brick oven outshuts, attic 2-light casement, exposed moulded plate and double
purlins. C19 bay to rear has an entrance and 2 and 3-light segmental headed
casements. Interior: frame largely concealed, early bays have a stop
chamfered cross axial binding beam, arched braces in walling, front range has
ogee stop chamfered axial binding beams, double staggered tenoned purlin roof.
