Farmhouse. C16 or C17 with later additions. Solid roughcast walls, probably of
stone or cob. Concrete-tiled roof, formerly listed as thatched. Large ashlar
granite chimneystack, with moulded cap and thatch weatherings, on ridge off-centre
to left. 3-room and through-passage plan originally, with hall stack backing on to
passage and an unusually long lower end; added T-wing at front. 2 storeys. 6-
window front, third window from right being in the front of the T-wing. In ground
storey to left of wing a C20 glazed door, then a 2-light C19 wood casement window
with a C20 glazed window at far end. Above them, in second storey, 3 wood casement
windows of 2 lights, each light of 8 panes. To right of wing 3 ground-storey
windows; 2 C19 wood casements of 2 lights, each of 3 panes, to left, C20 window to
right. 2 windows above in second storey; 3-light wood casement to left, another of
2 lights to right, both casements with 8 panes per light. Wing has C20 door and
lean-to porch in front. 2-light wood casement window with 3 panes per light in
second storey. In right-hand wall a 2-light wood casement window with 2 panes per
light to right of ground storey; in second storey 2 windows with 1-light wood
casements of 6 panes. Right-hand gable of main range has 12 pigeon-holes in upper
storey.
Interior: original front door, now disguised by added wing, has ovolo-moulded wood
frame with cranked head. In former hall, chamfered main beam and 2 half-beams, all
with step-stops. Lower room has fireplace (altered) in rear wall with a projection,
possibly designed for a newel stair, alongside it.
