Gardener's House in
Newton Park

Gardener's House. c1860 and possibly by Henry Stevens who
worked on Newton Park. Red brick with ashlar dressings. Hipped
plain tile roof with lateral circular stack with lozenge
decoration. Single storey. Chamfered plinth. Irregular plan
of two angled squares. Main elevation has a pointed arched
doorway with chamfered surround set within a flat arch, and with
pierced spandrels. Pair of half glazed doors with lancet lights
and decorative glazing of circles set in a pattern of squares.
To the left is a large 3-light window with flat arch. Chamfered
stone mullions and between them pointed arches with short
mullions rising from the apex of each arch. Similar glazing to
the doors. To the side elevation is a 2-light chamfered mullion
window with Caernarvon arches. Similar windows to the rear
range, which is rendered and has a castellated parapet with ball
finial at the angle.
