5.12.55 Farmhouse

GV II*

Barn. C15, added C17 bay. Timber-frame with dressed stone and rubble flint and some
brick infill, thatched roof with tiled porches and eaves. 9 bay aisled barn with
added bay. Farmyard side, 2 bays in from each end of original barn midstray half-
hipped porch. Low walls only 1.5m high with to centre, 3 bays and most bays on far
side C18, 2 and 3-light casements. C17 bay timber-frame with brick infill, without
aisle on barn side and corner cut off with carved brackets to support wallplate.
Roof half-hipped and lowest part over aisles tiled. Inside queen-post roof with
straight braces to ties and aisle plate, one set of continuous purlins with
straight windbraces, and aisle tie half way up main part.
