SU 71 SW HORNDEAN BLENDWORTH

9/13 Pyle Farmhouse

16.3.54 II

House. Early C18, with mid and late C19 extensions. Front walls of blue header
brickwork, with English bond (and blue headers) below ground-floor cill level,
and flush red dressings; plinth, quoins, rubbed cambered arches, brick dentilled
eaves fascia, projecting 1st floor band. Other walls of red brickwork, of
Flemish or English bond, also flintwork with brick quoins and vertical and
horizontal bands, some tile hanging to the upper part of the (late C19) rear
extensions. Tile roof, raised coping to end gables, gables (C19) to rear dormers
and extensions. Symmetrical west front of two storeys and attic, five
windows. Sashes in exposed frames. Solid doorframe, enclosing a 4-pane
fanlight and 6-panelled door, above two steps. Other elevations of vernacular
form: C20 single-storeyed flat-roofed extension north of the front, with a
bow window. The interior has an oak staircase of original date.
