Wellhouse built to supply water for Abbey. Late C13. Stone building.
Circular plan of 4m diameter with domed roof. On one side shouldered-arch
doorway. Inside vaulted roof. Stone bench around walls. Well was
're-discovered' in C18 when the Duke of Montagu had it connected to a
hollowed tree-trunk to supply village, and it carried on doing this until
after the Second World War.
