9/22 Shewell Hill Barn
II
Barn. Late C18 or early C19. Thin, coursed stone, larger
squared dressings, corrugated iron roof. Six-bay building, porch
on one side, one bay lofted. Barn viewed from north: plinth,
wide doorway off-centre to right, wooden lintel at eaves level: 2
tall slit air vents to right, 3 to left, farthest left later
blocked. Parapet gables, cross-gablet apices. Door to loft in
left return; square opening in apex of gable above. Internally,
far bay on left walled off, probably used as stable (interior end
bay not inspected). Cupboard recess in main wall to right of
porch, gable of porch weatherboarded. Two trusses either side of
threshing floor, tie-beam, collar and angled struts.
