Barn with columbarium. Dated and initialled 'T. Peacey 1807' at
the south gable end and on the porch gable. Coursed squared and
dressed limestone with large finely dressed stone quoins;
corrugated asbestos roof. Rectangular plan set across contours;
with a projecting porch on the west side with lean-to extensions,
one C20, either side of porch. North-west front: double plank
doors at rear of lean-to extension to porch; 2-light stone-
mullioned casement with guard bars to gable above; circular
datestone with radiating rays and inscription 'Thomas Peacey' with
date '1807' at centre; 2-light window with heavy-pegged frame to
the left-hand return of the granary. Two C20 stable doors to the
lean-tos either side; single C20 window to the lean-to to the
left. South gable end facing track with a segmental-headed window
and circular datestone dated and initialled 'T.P. 1807';
segmental-headed window to lean-to to left. Segmental-headed door
and three pairs of pigeon holes at the opposite gable end. South
east elevation with central double plank doors and a projecting
lean-to with stone-slate roof; columbarium and landings from below
the eaves to a depth of c2m. Interior: 5 bays with the original
collar and tie-beams with-triple purlins; floor on two levels;
granary lined with dressed stone; pigeon holes on the south-east
side do not pierce the wall of the barn. An unusual and striking
combination of barn and columbarium.
