Lodge Stables and walls. Early C19. A walled enclosure abuts the Emsworth Road, and
contains a stable at the west end, a smaller intermediate L-shaped service block,
with a cart-shed opening and (at the east end) a small dwelling of 1 storey and
attic. The roadside wall is of flint with brick dressings, ending in gables to the
end units, with yellow brick verges, eaveslevel band, quoins, a quatrefoil window
beneath a hoodmould, within the steep pediment shape, and a window within quoins to the
ground-floor of the cottage, which has an out-shot at the east side. All the
structures have hipped slate roofing, red brick walling in Flemish Garden wall
bond, the cottage being of flint with yellow brick dressings (square, arched and
pointed openings). Sashes, ½-glazed pointed doorway. The inner wall is of
brickwork on a flint base, its east end forming one of 2 octagonal gateposts
(of flint with yellow brick dressings) with stone caps.
