12/76 Elm Villa with boundary railings

Detached house dated and initialled 'R.E. / 1844' on an oval date
plaque. Coursed squared and dressed limestone; slate roof and
ashlar stacks. Rectangular plan. C20 extensions at right angles
at rear not of special interest. Symmetrical 3-windowed facade
lit by 12-pane sashes. Central C19 five-panelled door with the
upper panel glazed, within a latticework porch with a curving
canopy. Flat coping and moulded kneelers to the gable ends.
Gable-end stacks with unusually tall chimney pots. Cast iron
railing and gate on a low ashlar wall (c1Om long) forms part of the
boundary at the front of the house. The railing and gate may have
been produced in the nearby smithy. Interior not inspected.
