Large house. C17, extended 1861, substantially altered and
extended C20. Limestone rubble with dressed stone quoins; stone
slate roof; ashlar and rubble stacks. Ractangular main body (on
south) now substantially altered with slightly later extension rear
right (facing road) with a C19 extension to its gable end. Large
C20 extension at right angles to main body rear left. South front
of main body: 2 and 4-light steel casements with leaded panels; 3
C20 two-light slate-hung dormers. East gable end (facing road): 4-
light stone-mullioned casement with a king mullion and hood to the
ground floor; 3-light and 2-light stone-mullioned casements with
stopped hoods above (the latter with hollow chamfers). Two and 3-
light double-chamfered stone-mullioned casements to the roadside
front, C17 extension to the right. Single 2-light slate-hung roof
dormer. C19 extension: C20 door with fillets within an almost flat
roll-moulded Tudor-arched surround (probably partly reused from one
of the earlier ranges); C20 three-light casement with stopped hood
to the right of the door. Two axial stacks with twin diagonal
shafts and moulded cappings decorated with metope below. C20 stack
shaped like a quatrefoil. 'Dragons tail' finials to the gable
ends.
