2/107 The Stubbles
II
Detached house. Dated 1646 on partially defaced datestone over front door but
facade rebuilt later, and C20 extension. Coursed squared and dressed
sandstone, stone slate roof, ashlar stacks. U-shaped plan to C17
main body with C20 lean-to between projecting gable ends at rear.
Two storeys. Symmetrical 3-windowed facade, 2 and 3-Light double-
chamfered stone-mullioned casements with stopped hoods and diamond
leaded panes. Central studded plank door with cover strips within
flat-chamfered 'Tudor'-arched surround. Flat gable-end coping.
Gable-end stacks with moulded capping.
Interior not inspected. House reputed to have been transported to
the site from the grounds of Chasleton House, Oxon.
