Formerly three houses, converted on ground floor to one single
large shop, the whole one property. Mostly C17 (No 6, itself
originally 2 separate houses), with early C18 corner house (No 8).
All rubble stone, stone slate roof, one stone and 3 brick stacks.
Right hand side of No 6: 2 storeys and attic, 2 gables to front.
Two windows, 2-light wood casements with timber lintels to gables,
3-light to first floor, 2 large C20 bow shop windows to ground
floor with central glazed door, all with timber lintels. Very
large fireplace in right hand end on ground floor with cambered
timber bressumer. Left hand side of No 6: 2 storeys, one 3-light
wood casement with large timber lintel on first floor, C20 bow
window to left and glazed door to right (main shop entrance) on
ground floor. No 8 to left: also with quoins and on plinth, 2
storeys and attic. Two 12-pane sashes with thick glazing bars and
moulded wood architraves and timber lintels. Ground floor has C20
fixed 9-pane to left and glazed door to right. Small gabled dormer
with twin wood casements. Access from No 8 into right hand side of
former pair of cottages in Thames Street, No 16 (q.v.).
