Large detached house. Original wing to south west of early/mid
C18, enlarged to east and north in early C19. Coursed rubble stone
with flush stone dressings and quoins, stone slate roof to south
and north outer pitches, artificial stone slate on pitches in
centre, two stone stacks with paired diagonally set ashlar flues
with moulded cornices. Three parallel gabled ranges of different
lengths with cross range to west, 2 storeys. Main entrance front
to east of early C19 with 3 coped gables, 2 at sides wider with
central narrower gable infilled later, with kneelers with ball
finials to outer gables and each with large sash, 16/12/16 panes,
set in plain stone architraves and with square hoodmould. In outer
gables windows set in larger dressed stone surrounds, with similar
window below in same surround. Central gable has projecting gabled
porch with large inset ogee (possibly by Richard Pace) and large
ball finials on bases on the kneelers. Six-panel door, top 4
glazed, lower 2 flush, with ogee fanlight with Y tracery. Earlier
part of house to south west has two 12-pane sashes with timber
lintels on each floor and central door of 6 fielded panels with
projecting flat roofed decorative timber porch with 2 Doric columns
to front.
Interior has most of the original joinery.
