Former cowhouse, now house and two barns (one now converted for use
as meeting hall). Mid-late C16. House; coursed squared and
dressed limestone, stone slate roof, artificial stone stack.
Barns; coursed squared and dressed limestone, west end of
principal barn rebuilt in ashlar. House and barn complex forms an
'L'-shaped plan, tithe barn with projecting porch and buttressed
west end down slope from house. House; 2 storeys and attic lit by
C20 skylights. One original 2-light hollow-chamfered stone-
mullioned casement to first floor. Front wall substantially
rebuilt when house converted C20. Single light with stilted-headed
surround towards apex of right-hand gable end. All other windows
1, 2 and 4-light C20 stone-mullioned casements without glazing
bars. Pair of C20 plank doors with fillets within 4-centred arched
doorways with imposts at centre of facade, C20 glazed door within
similar surround. Similar doorway far left. Continuous dripmould
between ground and first floor. Tithe barn; double doors to
projecting porch. Clamp buttresses with double offsets and
double doors (opposite porch) to north wall. Diagonal buttresses
with double offsets and blocked pigeon holes in rebuilt gable end.
Blocked pigeon holes in gable end. Converted barn up slope from
the latter lit by 2-light hollow-chamfered stone-mullioned window.
C20 doorway with wooden lintel left. Two plate glass patio doors
in north wall. Saddleback gable-end coping at right gable-end of
house, formerly with finial, roof of house hipped at junction with
converted barn. Flat gable-end coping with roll-cross saddles to
tithe barn.
Interior of house not inspected.
Tithe barn: 5-bays, roof trusses with curved principals, double,
trenched purlins, two collar beams and yolk at ridge. Converted
barn; 4-bays, roof trusses with collar and tie beams, some through
others trenched.
