SP 01 NW SHIPTON SHIPTON OLIFFE

5/104 The Gabled Cottage
II

Detached cottage. C17 and C19. Coursed limestone rubble and large
dressed quoins, stone slate and concrete tile roofing, stone and
artificial stone stacks. Rectangular main body with single bay C19
extension to right gable end. C20 part-glazed porch at front of
C19 extension not of special interest. 1½ storeys. Garden front;
twin Cotswold gables to main body, 2-light double-chamfered stone-
mullioned window lighting right-hand gable. Three-light double-
chamfered stone-mullioned casement to ground floor with stone slate
lean-to roof, clamp buttresses with offsets either side of window.
C20 two-light casement in left-hand gable. C20 plank door with
fillets below with 3-light double-chamfered stone-mullioned window
left. C19 extension right with C20 half dormer with 2-light
casements, single light left of porch. Three-light stone-mullioned
casement in rear wall. Gable end stacks to main body. Interior
not inspected. _
