Detached barn with gable end dovecote. Early-mid C18 and late C18.
Coursed and squared and dressed stone and limestone rubble,
corrugated asbestos roof on west side, asbestos tiles and
artificial slates on east side, weather-boarded 2-storey
porch/store on west side. Rectangular barn with projecting
porch/store on west side with small stable block at left gable end.
Barn; plinth with flat-chamfered top. Three courses of pigeon
holes towards apex of right gable end, each course with a stone
landing platform. Partially blocked pitching window below. Two
open bays divided by timber upright to ground floor with stone
string above timber lintel. West side; stone steps up to landing
within weather-boarded porch/store, one stable type door and one
plank door from landing to two halves of barn. Entrance to stables
left of weather-boarded projecting porch/store with partly blocked
windows right and left of door opening. Segmental-headed pigeon
holes just below eaves left of projecting porch each with stone
slate landing platform. Formerly open-fronted store now used as
stables with artificial stone front set back on left with access
via 2 stable doors. Roadside wall; two C20 single pane windows and
pitching window to loft. Flat gable end coping with roll cross
saddles, stone ridge tiles.
Interior; barn divided into two 3-bay parts with original roof
trusses with collar and tie beams and butt purlins.
