House, extended, now 2 dwellings and a shop. Early to mid C16, extended
and probably floored and heated later C16 or early C17. Extended to rear
in C19. Timber frame with pargetted rendering. Stock brick addition.
Tiled roofs, machine tiles to rear. Originally an open hall with a
projecting lower cross wing, now 1 storey and attic. 2 cell, 2 storey
jettied block added at upper end. Entrance with fanlight to right of
hall range. Ground floor 4 light small pane flush frame casement with
hoodboard. Above this a later 3 light casement in a gabled dormer. Ridge
stack inserted at lower end of hall, cap rebuilt. Lower cross wing
projects to right with a lower ridge. Originally jettied to front,
underbuilt in stock brick with a small pane shop window with an entrance
to left. First floor 2 light casement, exposed plates and purlins. To
left is taller 2 cell addition. Stone steps up to 4 panelled door with
fanlight and architrave to right of centre, flanking 2 light casements.
Jettied first floor on curved brackets, 1 cut and 2 removed, 2 and 3
light casements. Left end C17 external stack, multiform with offsets,
ground floor stock brick casing with a 2 light casement, first floor
single lights, exposed purlins, cement render to rear. To rear of hall
and later block is a C19 stock brick continuous lean-to outshut with a
catslide roof. Right end has a low C19 lean-to outshut with an entrance
to front and in return, 3 light casement above in right return. Interior
not inspected.
