Pair of semi-detached houses, C17/C18 with C19 refronting. Timber framed and
plastered with gabled, peg tile roof. Front has pilaster like strips on the
edges of facade and over the party wall. No. 61 has 3 double hung sashes with
moulded surrounds and small panes, over central doorcase with flat hood, scroll
brackets and 4 panel door with rectangular 2 light fanlight. Either side are
similar double hung sashes. The entrance of 61 has a flight of steps and
tubular handrail. No. 63 is similar but with C20 small pane casements in place
of the 2 ground floor windows. Central plaque under eaves with "Alpha Cottages
1864". Interior reveals earlier timber framed building with C19 refronting
and part raising. Two cast-iron leaded light casements one on back wall of
61 and one in internal wall. Central ridge line stack on party wall with
inglenook to 63 below.
