Pair of houses, late C16 and mid C18, timber framed and plastered with gabled,
peg tile roof. Front has 3 C20 small pane casements over 2 C20 casements with
small panes, a flat topped canted bay with C19 casements. 20A has an open
pedimented hood on small straight brackets. No. 20 has a very fine, early C18
doorcase with fluted Doric columns, open pediment, rosettes in the metopes and
rusticated surround and 6 panel doors. A wrought iron sign bracket at the E
end. One ridge line small stack. The interior reveals a former crosswing at
the E end which is still expressed on the rear. This has side purlins, wind
braced roof. To the W a 2 storey timber framed structure, with framed side
purlin roof of probable early C17. A further C17 gabled 2 storey block extends
to the rear. (RCHM 14).
