House. Early C19. Stuccoed brick; Welsh slate hipped roof. 2
and 2 1/2 storeys. Front: original house symmetrical 3 bays, the
centre bay taller by a half storey, and curved. 12-pane hornless
sashes in reveals to side bays, tripartite curved 8:8:8 sashes
to centre bay (4:4:4 to upper half storey. Some graffito
decoration to window arches, parapet and cornice band to centre
only. Storeyed extension to left with parapet and blocked
windows, and with sash windows to left return. Tall axial
stacks. The rear wall forms a party wall with The Friars (qv).
Whitefriars is one of several houses overlooking the Medway that
present main front towards the river. When listed in July 1969
this property was known as Diocesan House.
