GV II*
House, formerly part of Old Hall (qv Refs, 9/7). C16 and early
C17 with later additions and alterations. Timber framed, part
roughcast, part weatherboarded. Kent tile roof. Long low 2-
storey range, original function uncertain. Exterior: irregular
3 window range, returns one single bay to right where it is
attached to Old Hall. 2 and 3 light casements, the return with
a 6-light window to ground. Large stack at junction of Milton
Cottage and Old hall. rear: one small stair light;
weatherboarding much renewed. Some timber framing visible.
Interior: 4 rooms, at 1st floor there is some plaster panelling
painted with naturalistic foliage and floral motifs in formal
surrounds, a slightly lower status version of the painted wooden
panels in Old Hall. Intersecting ceiling beams, stopped and
chamfered. Side purlin roof with wind braces.
