The Vine Hotel and

Public house. C18 exterior to earlier structure extended 1874. Timber framed
and clad with painted brick and tile hanging, painted to main elevation. Plain
tiled roofs. Two storeys and basement on plinth with roof hipped to left and
half-hipped to right, and stepped down to left to recessed 2 storey hipped
wing. Stacks to rear, to left and projecting at end left and end right. Four
wooden casements on lst floor, and 2 on ground floor, with multi-paned window
and multi-paned bow/oriel to centre left. Doubled half-glazed doors to centre
right in gabled porch. Half-glazed door to left in recessed wing. Basement
opening to centre left. Rear elevation with hipped and tile hung wings and with
glazing bar sashes. Interior: frame partly visible, the interior floor levels
step down slope (right to left) considerably. Attached to rear right and
ascending the High Street is an Assembly Room of 1874. Red brick with tile hung
return and rear elevations and slate roof. One storey and basement with stack
at end right. Two glazing bar sashes with basement openings below, cell with
gauged heads, and boarded door to left, with semicircular fanlight and gauged
surround and with iron lamp bracket over.
