Farmhouse. C16 or early C17, altered late C19 and C20. Sandstone rubble,
part rendered stone slate roofs. Rectangular plan aligned north-east/
south-west facing south-east, C20 extensions to south-east front, obscuring
probable former through-passage, south-west gable end main stack with winder
stone stairway. Two storeys, two C20 windows, glazed lean-to porch to
ground floor to left, further window to right. Interior retains good
chamfered ceiling beams with half-pyramidal stops and chamfered plank and
muntin panelling to main division of house on ground and upper floor; stone
winder staircase with oak treads, one tread with barely distinguishable
date inscribed; possibly 1630. RCHM suggest that the house may originally
have been timber-framed. (RCHM Vol I, p 45).
