House. Early - mid C19 with later C19 additions. Yellow brick in Flemish
bond with sandstone ashlar dressings and porch. Concrete tile roof. L-
shaped on plan: 2-room central entrance-hall south front with 3-room wing to
rear right and single-room extension to left. 2 storeys, 3 bays;
symmetrical, with single-storey extension to left. Rendered plinth. Flight
of 6 stone steps to projecting porch with Ionic columns supporting plain
entablature and flat hood with ornate wrought-iron balcony; Ionic pilasters
flanking recessed panelled door beneath overlight with margin lights.
Unequal 15-pane recessed sashes in architraves with recessed ashlar panels
below and cambered wedge lintels incised in imitation of rubbed brick.
Similar window to left extension with coped embattled parapet above. First
floor: 12-pane sashes with sills and similar lintels; central French window
to balcony with margin lights. Wooden eaves cornice. Hipped roof. End
stacks. Right return, forming garden front of 5 bays, has recessed 3-bay
central section with later ground-floor canted brick bay, 12-pane sashes
with sills and incised ashlar lintels similar to front. Interior. Entrance
hall has ribbed cornice with paterae and round-arched opening to stairhall;
open well staircase with wreathed handrail, fluted balusters and clustered
newel; main rooms have moulded friezes and cornices; panelled window
shutters and doors in architraves throughout.
