House. Mid C18, refronted in C19, with possibly late C17 - early C18 rear
wing. Red brick in English bond, refronted in yellow brick in Flemish bond,
pantile roof. Central hallway-entry with cross wing to rear. 2 storeys,
3 bays. 6-fielded-panel door beneath margin glazed overlight in doorcase
with panelled reveals, cable mouldings set in sunken panels, star motifs to
corners and cornice. 16-pane sashes with stone sills beneath painted flat
brick arches throughout. First-floor band. Stepped eaves. Gable coping,
shaped kneeler, end stacks. Interior: bathroom in cross wing has unusually
massive hand-cut chamfered ceiling joists and the roof to this range is of
simple A trusses, hand-cut with cambered collars. These 2 features suggest
an earlier date for this wing. Main range: open-string staircase with 2
squat column-on-vase balusters per tread. Hall has keyed archway and is
panelled to dado level. The roof is an unusual variation of a queen-post
roof with very tall posts supporting a collar 6 feet from floor level. This
arrangement together with timber-framed partitions suggests an original
