GV II

House and shop. Early C18, altered mid-C19 and mid-C20. Painted handmade
brick and hipped plain tiled roof. Three storeys with three-course band at
second floor level and modillion eaves cornice. Six bays. Windows have gauged
flat heads. There are four first floor and three second floor 12-pane sashes
(one of the first floor sashes has been altered). The remaining windows have
been blocked. On the ground floor is a C20 plate glass shop front to the left
of which is a four-centred archway which leads into a vaulted passageway to the
former corn exchange. At the rear of the building are some original mullion
and transom windows. (VCH, IV, p 362).
