3/11 Church Farmhouse

Farmhouse. C16, altered C17. Timber-frame with wattle-and-daub infill
partly replaced by brick on ground floor, tiled roof hipped to left.
2 storeys. Main house is in 2 parts. Left part: former gable exposed
with timberwork under roof continued from right. Irregular fenestration:
mainly C20 casements. Heavy jowled posts to gable. Right part: more
regular small square panels with neater cut members. Windows are C20
casements one on each floor and a small one above gabled porch to left
which is actually in centre of composition. Large sandstone chimney to
right with detached brick shaft; C20 extension canted in angles; lower
C18 - C19 stable range has timber-framed first floor of four bays with
studs, door and window. Interior: former gabled range has lower wattle-
and-daub gable in roof space one bay behind existing front, the whole
having been roofed over in C17 with addition to right.
