Pair of cottages. Possibly late C16 to C17 with later alterations. Sand-
stone rubble plinth to timber-frmae with plaster infill. Thatched roof
and brick end stacks. Rectangular four-bay plan aligned roughly north/
south. Two storeys. West elevation has two windows, late C19 casements
each with two lights in slightly jettied upper storey. Ground floor has
one 2-light mid-C20 steel casement to left-hand side and a 3-paned contempor-
ary window to right-hand side. To left of centre is a late C19 or early C20
canted bay window on either side of which is an early C20 door with glazed
panel. Frame has lightly moulded bressummer supported by three curved brackets.
Two angle struts from cill beam, one to right-hand corner post, the other to
probable former left corner post. Ground floor has two rows of roughly square
panels between cill and bressummer. First floor panelling is similar but
more irregular. South gable has first floor underbuilt in rubble. Interior
not inspected. (RCHM, Vol III, p 21).
