Farmhouse. C17, with some mid-C19 and mid-C20 alterations. Timber-frame
with painted brick infill on a painted brick base with slate roof. L-plan,
main limb to north, subsidiary to east. Gable-end stack of rubble with
rectangular brick shafts. West (garden) front of two storeys with attic lit
by two C20 gabled dormers. First floor has three windows, two 3-light case-
ments and a 2-light casement to the right, all with plank weatherings. The
central window preserves one light with rectangular leaded quarries. Ground
floor has two 3-light casements with a projecting porch to right. The
entrance has a ledged and boarded door in the left-hand return wall of porch.
Framing three square panels high to subsidiary range, other range four square
panels high to the first floor. Gable-end trusses have two struts to the
collar with V-struts in apex. Interior has exposed chamfered and stopped
beams. In the subsidiary range there is a doorway with moulded frame and
moulded battens to the door, bearing the inscription, "When you go to bed
God send you good rest" on the lintel. (RCHM, 3, p 42, no 24).
