Farmhouse. C15, partly rebuilt early C17, extended late C17 and refaced
early C19. Timber-frame with painted brick infill on rubble plinth,
partially faced in painted brick. H-plan, main range aligned east/west,
the east cross-wing extended to south in late C17. There is a central
chimney stack, also a lateral external stack on west wall of west cross-
wing of brick on ashlar base. South front mostly clad in brick. Two storeys,
with a gable-lit attic to right-hand cross-wing which is blind below. Main
range has two 4-pane sashes with a 3-light casement under segmental head to
left-hand cross-wing. Ground floor has a 3-light casement under segmental
head to left-hand cross-wing and to left of main range. Entrance in angle
to right-hand end of main range has a lean-to C19 porch and a half-glazed
door. Framing: of cross-wings, mostly four square panels high. South gable
of east cross-wing has three struts to collar with V-struts in apex. Interior
not inspected, but a cruck has been recorded in the main range. (RCHM, 3, p 85,
no 59).
