1/11 Little Upcott

GV II

Cottage. Probably late C17 or early C18 with later alterations. Sandstone
rubble and timber-frame with brick infill and brick alterations. Sandstone
slate roof and two sandstone end stacks, one with brick shafts. Two bays
aligned roughly east/west that to the west higher and of a different building
phase. Cellar, one to two storeys and attic. West gable has one small first
floor window, 2-light mid-C20. Ground floor casement to right of massive
extruded sandstone stack. Exposed framing to right of stack has curved
braces from collar to end principals. Two entries, one to eastern bay in
north return, the other to same bay in glazed porch in south return.
North elevation has painted brick mid-C19 front to west bay with segmentally
headed openings. Frame of west bay has four rectangular plans from cill to
wall-plate; eastern bay has three panels. Interior has ground floor ceiling
beams with lamb's tongue chamfer stops. (RCHM, Vol III, p 8).
