Farmhouse. C15 east wing remodelled during C16 or C17 when west cross-
wing added; the cross-wing was further altered during late C19 or early
C20 when roof and interior altered. Timber-framed core largely refaced
with sandstone rubble, C16 or C17 wing is completely rendered and has C20
surface timbering; half-hipped tiled roof to wing, part Welsh slate, part
stone slate roof to earlier wing. Earlier hall wing possibly of three bays
aligned east/west with former through-passage now partially blocked, later
cross-wing adjoins at west end. Large stack with bread oven at junction
with cross-wing, main entrance now in west face of cross-wing with subsidiary
entrance to south in earlier wing (site of former through-passage). West
front: two storeys with attics and cellars; three 3-light irregularly spaced
windows; left of centre late C19 or early C20 gabled porch to ground floor
with contemporary ledged door. South front: gable end of cross-wing to
left with skylight to attic below half hip in roof, one 3-light window
below; earlier wing to right with small central 3-light window between
eaves and doorway. The ground floor has 2-light windows which flank the
square-headed doorway with ledged door; part of the circular bread oven
protrudes to left at junction with cross-wing. Interior: the upper section
of one truss is partially visible in earlier wing; this has cusped principals
and may have further decorated members. The C16 inserted floor has chamfered
beams. Further chamfered beams in later cross-wing with unusual decorative
bracket surviving in central room of cross-wing. (RCHM, Vol III, p 320.)
